Very enjoyable Silver Age stories starring Adam Strange This last Archive volume collects the last of the Strange stories that were drawn by Carmine Infantino This is pretty standard sci fi stuff, and it s something of a running commentary here that every time Strange shows up on Rann, he s faced with a menace of some kind Fox was equally formulaic over in Justice League of America, but here, with room for some personal characterization between Strange and his Rannian girlfriend, Alanna, the stories give the reader other things to latch onto besides the villain of the month.Additionally, there is a surprising amount of continuity in these stories Sometimes, the stories pick up right after the previous issue s tale, which was not a common occurrence in DC s titles in the 1960s When the title Strange s stories appeared in, Mystery in Space, added Hawkman to the book, we see Hawkman and Hawkgirl interact with Adam strange in a museum, in a tale that begins in Strange s story and ends in Hawkman s Wow Pretty cool for those days The final story is a full length novel starring both Adam Strange and the Hawks, as they try to keep Earth and Rann from colliding with the other Infantino s art is the standout here Although he had some stock poses, particularly as figures are running always in sync with each other , the style is slick and surprisingly modern Murphy Anderson supplies most of the inkes, along with some by Joe Giella Infantino was clearly doing some of his best work and enjoying it.Adam Strange continued on in Mystery in Space for a few stories, but by a new creative team I ve never read them, so maybe they re not any good, but looking at the covers, Space Ranger ended up taking most of the limelight from Strange, and a few of the stories ended up feature Adam Strange s descendant The last few issues of MiS featured Ultra, the Multi Alien So, this seems like a good place to stop collecting the Adam Strange series Overall, some of Fox s better work, proving his sci fi background worked better on sci fi comics than with super hero ones.

This is the final volume of the vintage Adam Strange reprints before his series was canceled, and it s easy to see why the stories were getting weaker and redundant everything happens because of radiation, in every story The romance between Adam and Alanna gets swept under the carpet, and a lot of the last stories are just plain boring The only thing that kept my attention was the phenomenal Carmine Infantino Murphy Anderson artwork, they never disappoint My advice Go to Volumes 1 or 2 and skip this one.

Adam strange is one of my favorite heroes from DC Comics Silver age First you have Gardner Fox at the top of his writing game he was a master at coming up with clever twists and Adam Strange is well suited for his clever sci fi mysteries You have Carmine Infantino drawing at his peak The only down side of THIS collection is that regular inker Murphy Anderson only inked a few tales His sharp precise lines really complimented Infantino s imaginative landscapes in a way no other inker could touch A lot of fun Really pleased with this whole collection from vol 1 3.

The intro was well done and I appreciated the diffrention about this science fiction super hero from his peers back in the day Rather than using strength or fighting skill as the number one method of overcoming obsticles and or enemies Adam Strange used his mind to come up with creative means of winning out Art work was really well done Stories seemed very simple with minimal character development Standard excellent quality for Archive editions.

I was lucky enough to read these when they came out in the late 60 and early 70s Great SiFi comic stories with just a touch of the superhero feel Very nice art makes these Silver Age stories a joy to read Very recommended to an comic fan
